Semantics Reading Group Thursday, SRG Calendar

The Semantics Reading Group will meet this Thursday at 7 at Barbara's house, 50 Hobart Lane, Amherst. After laying the conceptual groundwork last time, Floris Roelofsen will show how Inquisitive Semantics tackles empirical questions relating to modality. He will be discussing this paper.

Abstract: This paper points out that the notion of meaning propounded by inquisitive semantics is not only suited to capture both informative and inquisitive content, but also a sentence's potential to draw attention to certain possibilities. This gives rise to a novel analysis of might.

For reference on the general layout of Inquisitive Semantics, Floris recommends the first 10 pages of this paper.

Thanks Anisa and Martin!
