An Important Announcement from the Candy Monsters

Dear Colleagues,

As I'm sure you're all aware, we are fast approaching that most important and glorious of holidays: the day after Halloween. This is the day when perfectly good Twix and Snickers bars that are wrapped in Halloween-themed wrappers are half off. This is a crucial time of the year. If we get enough candy donations in the piggy and yogurt container, we could be up to our elbows in chocolate bars until (the day after) Valentine's Day. If not, we may be headed for many cold winter months of dum dums and cheap bubble gum.

I implore you, fellow linguists: make a donation! Only by working together can we acquire ample amounts of life-giving chocolate. Give to the piggy by Halloween, and encourage your departmentmates to give as well!
