SRG meets today (November 29), for Maria Biezma's practice talk advocating an expressive analysis of exclamatives in Spanish (abstract).
For the first time in recent history, SRG will not convene at Aynat and Jan's place! Instead, the group will meet at Anisa, Muhammad, and Noah's place. They can't hear the door, so ring the doorbell! Come around 8:00 pm and bring whatever food or drink you like!

Two UMass Amherst linguists are giving papers at the the workshop Reciprocals cross-linguistically, Berlin, November 30 - December 2. Aynat Rubinstein's paper is called 'Groups in the semantics of reciprocal verbs', and Tom Roeper has a joint paper with Insa Guelzow called 'Reciprocals and reflexives in German and English child language'.
Maria Biezma's paper 'An expressives analysis of exclamatives in Spanish' was accepted to Going Romance, the 21st Symposium on Romance Linguistics, Amsterdam, December 6-8, 2007.
Christopher Potts (1999 NYU BA) is the first alumnus plenary speaker at the SUNY-CUNY-NYU Mini-Conference, December 1, 2007.

Editors Meg Grant and Jesse Aron Harris are looking for contributions to a forthcoming UMOP on ellipsis. They are hoping to get a diversity of views on the topic of ellipsis, so submissions from all sub-disciplines of linguistics are encouraged. Just send them a note if you'd like to contribute. The deadline will be just before SALT 18 in March.

Assistant Professor of Linguistics (Syntax)
The Linguistics Program at the University of Georgia invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level, to begin August 18, 2008. Applicants should have a primary research and teaching interest in syntax. A secondary area of specialization that complements the existing areas of the program is desirable. The ideal candidate will be someone with documented evidence of excellence in research and teaching who is eager to engage with students and faculty in our interdisciplinary program. Responsibilities include teaching two courses per semester at either the undergraduate or the graduate level, maintaining an active research program, and mentoring graduate student research. Ph.D. in Linguistics required at the time of appointment.Send a letter of application, curriculum vitae, writing sample, three current letters of recommendation, and graduate transcripts (unofficial transcripts are acceptable) to:
