On some basic ingredients of Narrow Syntax

There is no shortage of highly specific constructs to account for very important phenomena in syntax: (aside from Merge,) Agree, Phase, Cartographic domains, and features of all kinds. The phenomena these constructs are used for fall under the rubric of agreement, island effects, EPP, successive cyclicity, and the like. In this talk, I argue for a more minimal inventory of syntactic representations and processes, which calls into question the disparity of the modules traditionally assumed in narrow syntax.
